この１週間は 悲しいこと,嬉しく楽しい事 気持ちが揺れた日々でした。私達の親しいアメリカの友人が他界され お嬢さんから知らせを受けました。
奥様も数年前お亡くなりになったので 仲の良いご夫妻、天国でまたご一緒になられたことでしょう。ご冥福お祈りしています。沢山のご厚意、お陰様で アメリカでの充実した日々を送らせていただきました。有難うございました。
アメリカでは お香典やお供えのお花を下さる方は 代わりに 〜へ 寄付してくださいと言うことが多く、 今回も、ご自身で選ばれた所へ寄付 あるいは 故人の名にちなんで the Rocky Mountain Cancer Centerに 寄付をお願いしますとのことです。
診断されてから数ヶ月、余り苦しむことなく 日々の生活を楽しみながら ご家族に見守られて ご自宅で穏やかな眠りにつかれたとのお知らせに 悲しいお知らせの中にも 少し安堵しました。
このブログを読んで下さる方のなかに H氏を存じ上げておられる人もいらっしゃるので 温かい雰囲気のなかで 穏やかに閉じられた人生であったことお伝えしたく お許しもえていますので ここに メールの一部を載せさせていただきました。桜の満開だったころ ご本人から進行癌がみつかったけど まだ頑張るよとメールをいただいたところでした。

I write this with great sadness in my heart as Dad has been delivered into God's loving arms. He passed on Monday, May 19, 2014 here in his peaceful home. He did not ever have any pain, was on no medication, was still very able to get around and take care of himself. Most enjoyably, he was still very alert imparting stories, experiences, wit and wisdom. He passed quickly with the family's blessings, inner peace, and much love and gratitude in his heart.
I write this with great joy in my heart as Dad has been delivered into God's loving arms. He lived a full, interesting, joyful life with great success, much travel, many fantastic memories, friends and experiences. He cared deeply for his family and multitude of friends. We know he is happily comforted by the presence of God. He is at peace in the most tranquil of places rejoined with Mom, the love of his life.
There will be a small, family candlelight ceremony to honor my Dad on June 13, 2014 in his Erie home. It will be followed by an open house gathering of all his friends from 2:30 - 7:00p.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, facinating tales, stories, quips and written memories. They continue to enlighten and put smiles into this sad yet joyous time. I hope this finds you all at peace, enjoying a wonderful day of life and your loved ones. Please know Dad thought and spoke of you all often. He was so blessed to have such caring, thoughtful friends.
